Privacy Policy

How Funkesound collects, uses and protects your personal information: written in plain English, not legalese.

Last updated: 2 August 2026

Funkesound ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it and what control you have over it. It applies to this website and to the installation services we provide across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

We only collect information we actually need to quote for and carry out work. In practice that means:

  • When you contact us: your name, phone number, email address, and whatever you tell us about the job.
  • When we quote or attend a job: your service address, details about the property relevant to the installation, and notes about the work discussed or performed.
  • When you visit this website: standard technical information logged by our hosting provider, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you requested. This is used for security and to keep the site running, not to build a profile of you.

We do not collect sensitive information (such as health, financial or biometric details), and we do not buy personal information from third parties.

How we use it

We use your information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and provide a quote;
  • arrange, carry out and follow up on installation work;
  • issue invoices and keep the business records we are required to keep;
  • answer warranty questions and return for callbacks; and
  • keep this website secure and functioning.

We will not send you marketing you did not ask for, and we do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone.

Who we share it with

Funkesound is a small, owner-operated business, so in most cases the only person handling your information is the technician doing your job. We may share limited information where it is necessary:

  • with suppliers or subcontractors where a job requires it, and only the detail they need;
  • with our accountant or bookkeeper for invoicing and tax purposes;
  • with service providers that operate our website and email; and
  • where we are required or authorised to do so by law.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people find useful: how many visitors a page gets, roughly where in the world they are, and which pages they move between. It sets cookies in your browser to do this. We do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not run advertising pixels or sell visitor data.

Google processes this information on our behalf and may store it outside Australia. You can opt out across all sites using Google's browser opt-out add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.

Fonts and other assets are served from our own domain rather than a third-party CDN, so loading a page here does not disclose your visit to another company.

Where your information is stored

Enquiries submitted through this website are delivered to our business email. Our website is hosted on infrastructure that may store data on servers outside Australia. Where information is handled overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected to a standard consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and job records for as long as we may reasonably need them, to honour a warranty, answer a question about past work, or meet our tax and record-keeping obligations. When information is no longer needed for any of those purposes, we delete or de-identify it.

Keeping it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. This website is served over an encrypted connection. No system is completely secure, so we do not claim it is, but we do not collect more than we need, which is the most effective protection there is.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Just get in touch and we will handle it. There is no charge, and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the "last updated" date above.
